রূপপুর পারমাণবিক বিদ্যুৎকেন্দ্রের দ্বিতীয় ইউনিটের জন্য another shipment of uranium fuel arrived at the plant premises on Wednesday morning under tight security. According to reports, the uranium-carrying vehicle entered the Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant at around 10:03 AM, having been transported from Dhaka under the escort of the Bangladesh Army, police, SRB, and other intelligence agencies.

The fuel shipment reached Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport via a cargo plane on Tuesday night. Following its arrival, officials from the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Regulatory Authority took charge of the consignment. Ishwardi Thana Officer-in-Charge Asadur Rahman confirmed that the second unit’s uranium shipment reached the project around 10 AM.

Project sources state that a total of nine uranium shipments are planned for delivery to the country – seven for the second unit of the Ruppur plant and two for the refurbishment of the first unit. The target for completing all deliveries has been set within December, as per these sources.

Relevant engineers and officials have expressed optimism that, if all preparations proceed on schedule, the country’s first nuclear power plant could potentially connect 200 to 300 megawatts of electricity to the national grid by the middle of next December, pending successful testing.

The convoy from Dhaka to Ishwardi maintained strict security protocols, including motorbike patrols of law enforcement at important highway points, ensuring comprehensive oversight throughout the route.
